Tuesday, June 9, is a club assembly that will be the subject of a meeting to discuss the coming Sunrise Rotary year. Membership is expected to discuss ways to increase the Club's impact in the community. Membership is to bring ideas and Rotary Spirit to the meeting!
President Jim Kruse has solicited volunteers to serve in leadership positions for the coming Rotary Year. Based on the responses, the following slate for consideration: President: Jim Kruse; Treasurer (Budget): Jeff Jones; Treasurer (Weekly Cash): Rob Hamilton; Foundation: David Ramsey; A Public Image/Communication: vacant; Mo Townsend; Secretary: Guy Macarios. Plans for the coming year will be discussed at the Club Assembly on Tuesday, June 9.
On June 3, the Club heard a rousing presentation from Liz Childress about the great nature preserve at Weedon Island! Her enthusiasm was definitely contagious. If you haven’t visited or haven’t visited in a while, be sure to stop by the welcome center/museum and check out the 1000-year-old Seawater Dugout canoe…was it once an outrigger?
The Sunrise Rotary Club is shifting to a summer schedule. The Club will not meet on June 16th, and on June 23, will be serving breakfast at a local Ronald McDonald House - standby for more details as to the location will be revealed.
Saturday, June 6,members met to clean the Pinellas Trail at 8:30 near the corner of 46th St. South and Fremont Terrace South.
Shirley Williams, Club’s delegate to the Seminar for Tomorrow’s Leaders (S4TL), is heading to Lakeland on June 14 - thanks to Rob Hamilton for volunteering to drive. Club members have an opportunity to participate in the Rap Sessions. Suggested day is Thursday, June 18, but if Tuesday or Wednesday is more convenient, that can be arranged. Plan to arrive at 10:30 and stay until 3:30. These Rap Sessions have the reputation of being one of the highlights of S4TL!
District Conference is June 25-28 at the Tradewinds Resort on St Pete Beach. The Registration deadline was June 4th!
The League of Women Voters will host a St. Pete Mayoral Candidate Forum on Thursday, June 18, at 6 PM. The forum is free, but space is limited, so you must RSVP to attend. Click the link below for more information
