ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A new St. Petersburg bookstore that’s opening a brick-and-mortar shop in Roser Park this summer has set up a pop-up store in the lobby of a downtown hotel.
Pages and Perks is operating as the in-house bookstore at the Cordova Inn, 253 2nd Ave. N.
The store is located right inside Cordova’s lobby next to The Scott coffee shop and bar.
“The great part is that people can shop any time there’s someone at the front desk of the hotel which is 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. any day of the week! Owner Alex Hodges knew we were ready to go and offered up the space in their library as the first permanent home of Pages and Perks,” Kate Johnson, who owns the store with her husband, Ben, told Patch.
The bookstore initially planned for a June opening at its permanent location at 914 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South.
That opening has been pushed back to August because of ongoing construction in the space, she said, adding, “We’re really glad the care and attention are being paid to the details and nothing is getting covered over by a quick fix.”
Even after the store opens, Johnson expects the pop-up shop will remain in place at the Cordova Inn.
“Our goal is to stay here as long as possible, even after the main store is open,” she said.
They’re also taking advantage of downtown crowds and events, particularly the weekly Saturday Morning Market, which moved to the parking lot across from Williams Park and the recently expanded Cordova for the summer.
“We’ve been setting up each Saturday under the cover out on the brand new extension part of the porch,” Johnson said.
Follow the bookstore on social media for updates on its Roser Park location and other events.
