Arrest Made In Violent Attack At St. Pete Park: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with a violent attack at Bartlett Park that left another man critically injured earlier this month, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.

D’eauary Thurman was arrested in the case stemming from a July 6 attack at about 6:30 a.m. at the park, located at 2000 7th Street South.

The victim was lying on a picnic table bench when Thurman approached him and began punching, kicking and stomping on his face, police said.

The attack caused serious injuries and disfigurement to the victim’s head and face.

He suffered severe injuries and remains in critical condition, according to police.

After the assault, Thurman went through the victim’s personal backpack and stole an item before leaving the area.

Thurman was charged with robbery and attempted murder in the second degree.
