LEE COUNTY, FL — The suspect who shot and killed a St. Petersburg sanitation worker on Wednesday remains hospitalized with serious injuries in Lee County on Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
Ladavion King, 43, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after he was stopped on Interstate 75 south at Exit 128 by state troopers and Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies, FHP said.
He barricaded himself in his vehicle and, after a stand-off, was taken into custody, authorities said.
FHP charges are forthcoming, according to the agency.
Troopers didn't say how he was injured or what injuries he suffered.

St. Petersburg police responded to a call about a person shot in the 4100 block of 12th Avenue South just after noon on Wednesday.
The victim was a 47-year-old woman who worked as a St. Petersburg sanitation worker for the past 12 years, police said.
King fatally shot her while sitting inside her front-loader work vehicle, investigators said.
The victim, who hasn't been named, leaves behind four children.
She and King knew each other, and the shooting was a targeted attack, police said.
After the shooting, he fled the scene and headed south before he was taken into custody in Lee County.
