Woman Killed In St. Petersburg Hit-And-Run, Police Searching For Driver

A 47-year-old woman was struck in a marked crosswalk early Saturday before the driver fled, St. Petersburg police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday while walking in a marked crosswalk in St. Petersburg, police said.

A dark-colored sedan was traveling south on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South around 2 a.m. when it struck the woman near the intersection of 15th Avenue South, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police said the 47-year-old woman was walking west across Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South in the marked crosswalk when she was hit. The driver fled without stopping, authorities said.

The woman was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where she later died. Police did not release her name.
