ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An 84-year-old bicyclist died after crashing into a vehicle Saturday afternoon in St. Petersburg.
The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North near 14th Avenue North, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.
The bicyclist was traveling north in a marked bicycle lane when he lost control of his bicycle for an unknown reason.
He crossed out of the bicycle lane and struck the front passenger corner of a Toyota Corolla heading north, police said.
The bicyclist was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the Corolla remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
