ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Northeast High School at 5500 16th Street North was evacuated "as a precaution" Friday morning after a bomb threat, St. Petersburg police said in a news release.
There is a heavy police presence in the school as 54th Avenue North is shut down in both directions between Interstate 275 and 17th Street N., investigators said.
The threat comes a day after a ninth-grader at Gibbs High School was arrested for bringing a gun to campus, police said.
The 15-year-old was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of a weapon on school property and unlawful carry of a concealed firearm, both felonies.
This is a breaking news story that will be updated as more information is available.
