• Helene anniversary meal planned at damaged Shore Acres church (baynews9.com) — A Shore Acres church in St. Petersburg is hosting a free community meal on Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. to mark two years since Hurricane Helene and support neighbors still rebuilding. The Gathering Church's "Food is Love" program especially helps seniors and families whose homes and kitchens remain damaged, even as the church itself continues an expensive, long-term recovery from flooding and roof damage.

• Patricia A McGrain (sent-trib.com) — Longtime educator and theater lover Patricia A. McGrain, 94, who moved to St. Petersburg in 2019 to be near her daughter, has passed away. Her life spanned teaching, real estate, fitness instruction, and performing arts, and she is remembered by children, grandchildren, and extended family. Services and a celebration of life will be held in Ohio next month.
