Arrest Made in 17-Year-Old's Shooting

A 16-year-old has been charged with manslaughter.

St. Petersburg Police have announced an arrest in a July 4 shooting of a 17-year-old boy.

According to the department, a 16-year-old turned himself in Sunday night and now faces manslaughter charges.

The case that led to the arrest unfolded around 7 p.m. July 4 at 2011 Queensboro Ave. S. Police said La’Menzo Burnett Jr. was shot in the head and was taken to Bayfront Hospital in critical condition.

Burnett remained on life-support at the time of the 16-year-old’s arrest.

Further details in the case, including the circumstances that led up to the shooting, are not yet available. Patch is not releasing the name of the teen arrested due to his age.
