Babe Ruth arrives in St.Petersburg on February 8 as a nine-foot statue, the work of Plant City Artist Blake Emory. “Babe Calls: The Shot” will be unveiled at North Shore Park in St. Petersburg, FL. The statute is 9 feet 2 inches tall, representing Babe calling (pointing) out his famous home run in the 1932 World Series at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
The event will feature a 9:05AM preliminary game with youth from TASCO Teen Center of St. Pete, a canned food drive benefiting St Petersburg Free Clinic, donations to local charities, and food truck specialties. Food items will be accepted on Tuesday, February 4, Thursday, February 6, and gameday, February 8.

The statue presentation is scheduled for 11:30 AM. Blake Emory, A Plant City, FL native Artist, painter/Muralist, Sculptor, and Filmmaker fields, will join Tom Stevens and Mayor Ken Welch in unveiling Emory’s “calls his shot.”
The Club’s Annual local charities awards will begin at 11:50PM. During the past year, the Club contributed $2,301 to local charities and 287 lbs of food to St.Petersburg Free Clinic.

The annual softball game pitting Mayor Welch’s City Hall Stars against the Kids and Kubs All-Stars is slated for 12:10
The Ruth sculpture will appear at a Centennial Parade at 4:30, sponsored by the Azalea Neighborhood Association Group on St Petersburg’s Westside.
The event is free to all. Donations to the food drive would be appreciated.
