Bay Vista Teacher Carjacked at Gunpoint
St. Petersburg Police say the incident happened early Tuesday morning.

A 37-year-old Bay Vista Elementary School teacher is shaken, but otherwise OK following an armed carjacking in the school’s parking lot.
St. Petersburg Police say the incident happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday at the 5900 Dr. Martin Luther King St. S. school. The woman was getting out of her 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander when she was approached by a man with a gun. That man, police said, demanded her keys and purse.
The teacher handed the items over and fled toward the school as the carjacker took off in the Highlander.
