Bubba the Love Sponge Off the Air in Tampa Bay

Cox Media has announced it will no longer air the show "effective immediately" on its 102.5 The Bone station.

Tampa Bay Bubba the Love Sponge fans are in for a shock when they tune into 102.5 The Bone. The controversial shock jock’s show has been cancelled “effective immediately.”

“We appreciate everything the Bubba the Love Sponge Show has done for us over the past six years,” Keith Lawless, Cox Media’s Tampa vice president said in a press release issued Friday. “We now are taking the station in a different direction.”

Todd “Bubba” Clem has been a fixture on Tampa Bay radio for years with his show airing on various stations. Not afraid to capture headlines, Clem caused quite a stir in when a wild boar was slaughtered on his show. Clem was charged with animal cruelty, but was acquitted in 2002.

A feud between Clem and fellow-DJ Todd “MJ” Schnitt also captured headlines as the two faced off in court.

While Bubba’s off The Bone, his show will continue to air in other markets, including Fort Myers and Orlando.
