In response to the recent devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, St. Petersburg contemporary art galleries D-Gallerie and ARTicles are uniting to host Art Solidarity for Venezuela, a special benefit exhibition and silent auction.
This evening brings together artists, collectors, and community pillars to transform a shared sense of urgency into immediate, practical support for families affected by the tragedy.

<h3>How It Works &amp; Where the Funds Go</h3>

To ensure absolute transparency and rapid deployment of emergency funds, all collections and donations are fully managed and administered by the Carlos Carrasco Foundation, a registered non-profit led by Venezuelan professional baseball player Carlos Carrasco and his wife, Karelis Carrasco.

<ul><li>100% of all proceeds from the silent auction will go directly to the Carlos Carrasco Foundation to fund on-the-ground humanitarian and community relief efforts in Venezuela.</li><li>10% of all D-Gallerie sales throughout the entire month of July will also be donated directly to the foundation's relief fund.</li><li>(Note: Art purchases made at ARTicles during the event support the exhibition hosting but are not included in the 10% monthly gallery sales donation).</li></ul>

The evening is proudly presented in partnership with local favorite Carupano Kitchen. Guests will enjoy authentic Venezuelan culinary traditions, highlighting the deep connection between contemporary fine art, cultural heritage, and shared community purpose.

Neverne Covington: Into the Mystic

Continuing a tradition at the Morean, we are proud to present last year’s Margaret Murphy Steward Best of Show winner,&nbsp;Neverne Covington. In addition to a cash prize, the winning artist receives a solo show in our gallery to coincide with the following year’s members show. Neverne is the 14th artist to receive this opportunity.
About Neverne:
Neverne Covington’s drawings, prints, paintings and sculpture explore childhood, language, landscape, memory, and the gothic south. Her work has been exhibited at the Tampa Museum of Art, the Brevard Museum of Art, the State Capital, the Florida Museum for Women Artists in Deland, Florida and various venues throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
​​She recently returned from an artist residency at the VCCA Moulin a Nef in Auvillar, France. Covington was born in Laurelton, New York, grew up in Florida, and attended City &amp; Guilds College in London, England. She graduated from Eckerd College and has maintained her studio in downtown Saint Petersburg for three decades.
Artist Statement:
I use oil paint, oil sticks and wax on canvas to create my work. I start with small intimate studies and expand to larger works, often executing several paintings at the same time. I look for the dialogue as my paintings speak to one another. Using progressive layers and glazes, some transparent, some thick and opaque, each brushstroke or mark becomes the topography of the surface. Each layer informs the next.
Direct observation and immersion in the natural world, informs my work and determines its themes: permanence, impermanence, and transience. My paintings discover the tangible and intangible forces that form matter from which our being and our very nature emerge.
Rhythm, pattern, and repetition dictate my process and the direction each work will take. The viscosity and consistency of the mediums enhance the work as I smear, drag, rub to create volume and form. The oil sticks, paint, and wax, combined with the shimmering transparent glazes, produce depth. The history of painting, and my study of it, informs each mark I make.
Painting makes me pay attention. It entices me into the mystery of nature and the landscape of memory.&nbsp;It is a way of bringing order to the world I know and to the preconscious world of which I know so little. I am fascinated with what came before us, with humankind’s relationship to our living, breathing world. In my work I strive to reveal nature’s known, unknown and unknowable entities. It is my humble hope that audience will respond to these resonances.

Joyland is a state of mind guided by wonder and curiosity through the creative process of art making. Inspired by imaginary coastal spaces, ocean light, rhythmic movement, tropical color, the energy of street art, and a hint of the cosmic, this body of work explores environments that feel both vibrant and introspective. Layered surfaces, fluid forms, and bold color interactions create an atmosphere that moves between dreamscape and memory—places that do not exist, yet feel familiar. The work balances playfulness with reflection, inviting moments of connection, engagement, and emotional escape.
Through Joyland, viewers are invited into a vivid world where imagination, energy and emotion converge—a space that rekindles wonder and joy.
Benaiah Cusack is an abstract landscape and mixed-media painter working in acrylic, ink, graphite, and collage. His practice explores color, gesture, and layered composition, shifting between structure and spontaneity to build surfaces shaped through an intuitive process. Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, his work draws from coastal environments, street art and mural culture, atmospheric light, and rhythmic movement, translating fragments of observation into painted works. Through processes of building, obscuring, and reworking, he develops imagery defined by form, flow, and visual rhythm.
Rather than depicting specific locations, Cusack’s paintings move between imagined terrain, instinct, and sensory experience, inviting viewers into immersive spaces shaped by color, radiance, and abstraction.

“Healing Through Sound and Art” is an eight-part series that offers participants an opportunity to learn and rebalance the 7 main chakras, by using sound and art as a tool. With the intentional use of sound and art we offer participants a guided, multi-sensory experience that blends the physiological, mental, and spiritual benefits of sound healing with expressive and meditative art practices. Participants are be encouraged to dress comfortably and come prepared for a calming, reflective experience. The workshop is suitable for all levels—no prior experience with meditation, art, or healing practices is required.
Participants will be supplied with their own canvas and drawing and painting tools, which they will take home at the conclusion of the workshop.

The Coliseum

The 37th Annual Cool Art Show by the Professional Association of Visual Artists (PAVA) returns to the historic St. Petersburg Coliseum on Saturday, July 18th, from 10 AM–5 PM, and Sunday, July 19th, from 10 AM–4 PM.The two-day showcase will feature nearly 70 of Florida's most talented and diverse artisans, showcasing a wide range of visual and functional art. Attendees can look forward to exploring various forms of art, including paintings, woodworking, ceramics, photography, metalwork, glass art, fiber art, digital art, mixed media, and jewelry.
 Visitors of all ages will once again enjoy our Interactive Arts Area, hosted by Lauren Miller, who is introducing new activities to this always-popular feature of the show.
This year’s Cool Art Show will also feature PAVA's Annual Members' Award Show. This annual event provides monetary prizes to participating PAVA artists, many of whom typically exhibit only in galleries, and awards will be presented on Sunday morning.

Learn the basics of hand carving while making a wooden spoon!
Students will learn proper handling techniques, wood grain structure basics, sharpening, clamping, and sanding, all while carving out your own design of a spoon. Wood and Carving tools will be provided. It is recommended you purchase “no cut” carving gloves in your size. Links will be provided. This workshop is for beginners and those that want a relaxing fun atmosphere to learn and create a new skill.
