Caretakers Neglected Intellectually Disabled Man: St. Pete Police
A 22-year-old disabled man was living in squalor behind a St. Pete home and forced to sleep outside in a makeshift hut, police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two caretakers face charges for neglecting a non-verbal 22-year-old intellectually disabled man, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.
The victim was found living in squalor behind a house in St. Petersburg.
He was forced to sleep outside and sometimes stayed in a makeshift hut in the backyard. He wasn’t allowed inside the house, hadn’t bathed and was covered in feces, police said.

His caretaker, 56-year-old Jeffeth Garvey, and Garvey’s live-in girlfriend, 59-year-old Antoinette Mundy, were charged with neglect of a disabled adult.
“We would like to remind our residents that if you see something, say something,” the agency said. “There are resources in our community available to our vulnerable residents. There is no reason for anyone to live under these conditions.”
