Charlie Crist Running for Congress
The former Florida governor is throwing his hat into the political arena once again.

Charlie Crist may have been knocked down in his last two statewide elections, but he’s not out of the running just yet.
Florida’s former governor has thrown his hat into the ring for the U.S. Congressional District 13 seat currently held by Republican Rep. David Jolly. Jolly, in turn, is running for Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate seat.
Crist began his political career on the Republican side of the aisle, but became an Independent and then a Democrat. He ran against Gov. Rick Scott in 2014 in hopes of regaining the state’s top office, but was ultimately defeated at the polls.

The district Crist has his eye on winning is part of the state’s new congressional district map that is under review by the Florida Supreme Court. The newly drawn district is anticipated to have more Democratic voters and puts all of St. Petersburg in the same district.
“I want to give you, the people, the megaphone you deserve in Washington,” Crist wrote on his Facebook page Tuesday following the announcement. “That’s why I’m running to be the People’s Congressman from my home in Pinellas County, Florida.”
