Coast Guard Kids Get Big Back-to-School Surprise

Through a special donation, the Coast Guard Foundation was able to provide nearly 200 backpacks full of supplies.

Children of U.S. Coast Guard members stationed in the St. Petersburg sector got a big surprise recently when they discovered much of their back-to-school shopping had been done for them.

The Coast Guard Foundation with support from the Comrie Foundation provided backpacks loaded with notebooks, folders, pencils and more. The packs were given to children of service members attached to Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg. The command includes the Bay area and extends south into the Yankeetown area. There are more than 825 active duty members in the command.
