Cold Night Shelters Opening Friday, Saturday In Pinellas County

With temperatures dropping in the days before Christmas, Pinellas County will open cold night shelters for those in need of a safe space.

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — With temperatures expected to drop Friday and Saturday nights, Pinellas County is opening cold night shelters at the following locations:

  • Boys and Girls Club, 111 W. Lime Street, Tarpon Springs
  • First United Methodist Church, 411 Turner Street, Clearwater
  • The Refuge Outreach Church, 606 Alden Ave., Clearwater
  • Boys and Girls Club, 7790 61st Street N., Pinellas Park
  • Northwest Church, 6330 54th Ave. N., St. Petersburg
  • WestCare Turning Point, 1810 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg
  • Unitarian Universalist Church, 100 Mirror Lake Drive N., St. Petersburg
  • Salvation Army, 1400 4th Street S., St. Petersburg

All sites will be open 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. with the exception of the Salvation Army, which will remain open until 7:30 a.m. each day, the county said in a news release.

These pop-up shelters operate when the “feels like” temperature dips below 40 degrees between Nov. 15 and March 15, the county said.

The county is seeking volunteers and donations for the shelters.
