Community Foundation of Tampa Bay announces new Board of Trustees members and Board Chair

TAMPA, Fla. (September 23, 2016) – The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay has announced the election of four new officers and five new members to its Board of Trustees.

The new board members, who have deep roots in the community and a broad knowledge of the area’s issues and needs, provide valuable insight that will help the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay connect donors and their gifts with nonprofits in order to make a lasting impact.

The new officers include:

• Donna L. Longhouse, the new Board Chair, is an attorney and shareholder in the Tax, Trusts and Estate Practice Group of Allen Dell, P.A. She has served on the Board of Trustees since 2008. Longhouse has also served in leadership roles at Children’s Home Society, USF St. Petersburg’s College of Arts and Sciences, The Florida Orchestra and Tampa Bay Estate Planning Council.
  
• Betty Castor, Chair Elect, has devoted much of her life to public service. She served as Florida Commissioner of Education, as president of the University of South Florida, and as CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Ms. Castor is a member of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and the Tampa Bay Committee on Foreign Relations.
  
• Susanna Grady, Secretary, retired as vice president of development at WEDU. She also spent more than 20 years with Tampa Preparatory School, including as Head of School.
  
• Bob Mohr, Treasurer, is a Florida Bar Board Certified Wills, Trusts and Estate lawyer in Sun City Center. His involvement with the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay goes back to its founding when he worked with initial supporters to establish the Foundation.

In addition, five new members have joined the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay’s 25-member Board of Trustees:

• Miles Capron, is the retired owner of Capron Sales Company of Wisconsin. He and his wife Barbara have resided in Sun City Center since 2005. Capron volunteers as a tutor and supports arts and cultural organizations.
  
• Dr. Lyda T. Lindell, a board certified ophthalmologist, is retired from private practice. She is a board member of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and the Dean’s Advisory Council of the College of Arts and Sciences at USF. Dr. Lindell is also a member of the Circle of Red within the American Heart Association, Women in Philanthropy of St Joseph’s Hospital, Women’s Leadership Council of Tampa General, Ukrainian Medical Society and Society of International Business Fellows.
  
• Joel Shane is a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services. In his role as a financial advisor, he has assisted clients with establishing funds at community foundations. Shane currently is a director and audit committee chair of The Florida Orchestra.
  
• James Stanger has more than 40 years of financial services experience and is currently a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)™, Estate Planner, and Wealth Manager with Simon & Associates of Raymond James in Tampa. He is founder and past chair of the Annual Estate and Tax Planning Continuing Education Seminar, which is co-sponsored by the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay and WEDU-PBS.
  
• Jill Wilkinson is the market president for SunTrust in the St. Petersburg market as well as the relationship manager for not for profit, institutional, government and for entities throughout the Tampa Bay market. Wilkinson is active in the St. Petersburg community, serving on the boards of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, St. Petersburg Area Economic Development Corporation and St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership. She is also a member of the USF St. Petersburg College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, Suncoasters and Leadership St. Petersburg Alumni Association.
