Concealed Weapons Permits Go on Fast-Track Tuesday
The Pinellas County Tax Collector's Office is facilitating the speedier process.

Pinellas County residents who want faster access to a concealed weapons permit have a new place to turn starting Tuesday.
The Pinellas County Tax Collector’s main office in Clearwater will begin processing “fast-track” applications for those who make an appointment and pay a $22 convenience fee, along with other applicable fees. The office will also handle the fingerprinting and creation of an ID photo for the permits.
Applicants must meet Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ requirements and pay the licensing fees. The fees for fingerprint processing and the initial license are $112, according to the state.

The Pinellas office was selected to help take some of the burden off the agriculture department by serving as one of five pilot locations for accepting concealed weapon permit applications. The state has final approval on whether permits are issued.
“Our partnership with the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s office enables us to provide more convenient options for Floridians to apply for or renew concealed weapon licenses and process applications more efficiently,” Agriculture Commissioner Adam H. Putnam was quoted in a media release as saying. “I appreciate the support of Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson and other tax collectors around the state who are interested in providing greater service to their communities.”
