Cops: Dispute Over Woman Led to Fatal Shooting

The suspect in the case has been identified.

St. Petersburg Police are looking for a 37-year-old man in connection with a homicide that occurred Monday night.

According to the department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at 1151 10th Ave. S. when a dispute broke out between two men over an earlier altercation with a woman.

One of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other, an email from the department stated.

The victim, Edward Williams, 47, died a short time later.

Witnesses to the shooting identified the shooter as Willie Mathers Newton, police said. A search for Newton continues.
