CREW Tampa Bay will help create a "City in Pink" to support breast cancer awareness in October
Commercial building owners encouraged to turn lights and fountains pink
To promote breast cancer awareness, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Tampa Bay is launching a program to encourage area commercial property owners to turn their properties’ lights and fountains pink during the month of October.
The hoped-for result: what CREW calls a “City in Pink.”
CREW Charlotte first implemented “City in Pink” in that city in 2008, and it has become highly successful, with more than 275 buildings in Charlotte participating in October 2014. Lisa Marie Fry, Executive Managing Director of DTZ, formerly a CREW Charlotte member, brought the idea with her when she moved to Tampa and joined the Tampa Bay chapter.

“We’re combining our support of breast cancer awareness with our connections in commercial real estate,” said Deborah Sheridan of Hancock Bank, CREW Tampa Bay’s President. “’City in Pink’ is a reminder to stay vigilant in the fight for a cure, and is intended to be a unique and touching tribute to breast cancer survivors.”
CREW Tampa Bay is encouraging participating companies to get creative with pink displays for the month of October. Possible ways include turning lobby lighting pink, filtering spotlights and landscape lighting, and dying fountains pink.

CREW Tampa Bay member Katie Gower of Ed Taylor Construction is coordinating CREW Tampa Bay’s “City in Pink” efforts, and is connecting interested property owners with lighting professionals who can supply what’s needed, depending on the type of light.
For many buildings, there are several quick, inexpensive, and reusable solutions to a temporary PINK conversion of existing lighting fixtures. The team at ClearPath LED, a Tampa-based commercial LED lighting company, is proudly offering to help companies with “City in Pink” lighting efforts.
