Dad Charged in 7-Week-Old's Death
The baby boy suffered head trauma before dying, according to St. Petersburg police. His father was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Angelo Guadalupe was not even 2 months old when St. Petersburg Police say his own father caused injuries that ultimately ended his life.
The case against the 7-week-old’s father, Michael David Guadalupe, 27, began to unfold when the baby was brought to All Children’s Hospital back on June 29. Police say the child had been left in the father’s care while his mother was at work.
Guadalupe initially told police Angelo was fed and placed in his crib after displaying signs of fussiness, an email from the agency stated. When the father went back to check on him, he told investigators, he found the baby unresponsive and called 911.

Angelo underwent surgery, but was taken off life support on July 7, the email said.
Police say the Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be “blunt head trauma.” The injuries, the email said, were likely to have been caused from Angelo being shaken. His death has since been ruled a homicide.

“Detectives attempted a follow-up interview with the father, Michael Guadalupe, but he refused to speak with
them,” the email stated. “The child’s mother is not a suspect.”
Michael Guadalupe was charged with 1st-degree murder in the case Thursday afternoon, the department’s email said. He was still being processed into the Pinellas County Jail as of 4:10 p.m. Thursday.
