DeSantis' Plane Forced To Make Emergency Landing

Mechanical problems have forced Gov. Ron DeSantis' plane to the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport for an emergency landing.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- Mechanical problems have forced Gov. Ron DeSantis'S plane to the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport for an emergency landing.

DeSantis’ spokesman Dave Vasquez said the diversion to PIE will cause a 90-minute delay in DeSantis' arrival in Broward County where he is expected to talk about holding government officials accountable and suspend Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel for his office's mistakes during the Parkland school shooting.

The press conference was scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday but has been moved up to 4:30 p.m.

The plane was en route to Fort Lauderdale from Tallahassee.

Also on board are Attorney General Ashley Moody, Chief of Staff Shane Strum and three members of DeSantis' executive staff.
