Dirt Bike Rider Killed in Friday Crash

A 57-year-old St. Petersburg man suffered fatal injuries during a Friday morning accident on westbound 54th Avenue North.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Stephen Patrick Cleary was heading southbound from the north sidewalk across the westbound outside lane of 54th Avenue North around 9:50 a.m. on a dirt bike when the crash occurred. At that time, a Lexus driven by The Tran, 66, of Kenneth City was headed west in the inside lane of 54th Avenue, approaching Lown Street.

Troopers say Cleary failed to yield the right of way and struck the passenger side of Tran’s car.

Cleary suffered serious injuries and was transported to Bayfront Health where he later died.

No charges are anticipated.
