Drug Crackdown Lands 5 Arrests, More Coming

"Operation Sand Storm" began in July.

Five Pinellas County residents face a number of drug charges courtesy of Operation Sand Storm.

The joint investigation conducted by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Treasure Island Police Department kicked off back in July. Officers recently made the five arrests and say eight more are coming.

Carla Barlow, 50, 11875 Gulf Blvd. No. 108, Treasure Island
Charges: Possession of Marijuana and Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance

James Vernon Mitchell, 22, 11875 Gulf Blvd. No. 119, Treasure Island
Charges: two counts of Sale or Delivery of Cannabis, two counts of Possession of Marijuana, and one count each of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Sale or Delivery of Clonazepam

Jovan Williams, 27, 11401 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. No. 2413, St. Petersburg
Charges: Possession of Hydromorphone

William Earl Turner, 48, 6825 Central Ave., St. Petersburg
Charges: three counts of Possession of Marijuana, one count of Sale of Controlled Substance (Marijuana), three counts of Sale or Delivery of Controlled Substance

Nichole Culin, 33, 11180 1st St. E. No. 6, Treasure Island
Charges: Sale or Delivery of Marijuana, Possession of Suboxone, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Powder Cocaine, Sale or Delivery of Powder Cocaine, and Possession of Marijuana

During the joint operation, the two agencies worked together identify individuals selling illegal drugs in the community. The five people brought into custody were arrested earlier this week.
