DUI Charges for Man Who Drove Off Bridge
The accident took place Tuesday afternoon in St. Petersburg.

A 59-year-old man who drove his van into the water near the bridge at Snell Isle Boulevard Northeast and Coffee Pot Boulevard Northeast Tuesday afternoon is being charged with DUI.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, David Mark Ellis drove into the water around 3:53 p.m. Ellis suffered minor injuries, police wrote in an email to media, but refused medical treatment.
“Ellis is being charged with DUI at this time and after further evaluation will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail,” the email said. “Aside from driver impairment, there does not seem to any other contributing reason for his car leaving the roadway and driving into the water.”
