ST. PETERSBURG, FL — AT&T has added a new cell tower in St. Petersburg to enhance the area’s 4G LTE coverage and help give residents and first responders faster, more reliable wireless service, said a news release.

AT&T said the new St. Pete cell site boosts service in the area along 16th Street South, between 54th Avenue South and 58th Avenue South.

“We consistently work to provide better coverage for the community and its first responders,” said Joe York, AT&T Florida president in a news release. “With 4G LTE service, customers will be able to experience better network connectivity while streaming videos, sharing on social media or texting family and friends.”

The new cell site will also benefit public safety and first responders on FirstNet – public safety’s dedicated communications platform, and gives Florida’s first responders access to the fastest overall network experience, said AT&T.

FirstNet is built with AT&T in a public private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority. The company said that it’s designed to help first responders in Florida and across the country connect to the critical information they need – when they need it – so they can keep themselves and the communities they serve safer.
