Fatal Crash Causes Sun Boulevard Detour

Pinellas County motorists traveling in the area of the Pinellas Bayway and Sun Boulevard may want to plan for delays.

A fatal accident that occurred around 7:30 p.m. Thursday has traffic being detoured at Sun Boulevard. The Pinellas Bayway remains opens, however, St. Petersburg Police wrote in an email to media.

Police aren’t releasing much information about the crash at this time, but have said it was a single-car wreck involving a silver Corvette. One man died at the scene and another was transported to a local hospital.

It is unclear at this time how long the detour will remain active.
