Man Shot On St. Petersburg Street Identified

The shooting was reported along 42nd Street early Wednesday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the area of Central Avenue and 42nd Street Wednesday morning.

According to the agency, officers received several calls about shots fired in the area of Central Avenue and 42nd Street around 6:33 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. While the man was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment, he died at 7:25 a.m., an email from the police department said.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Dante Terrell, 40, of St. Petersburg.

No further information is being released at this time. The shooting closed 42nd Street between Central Avenue and 1st Avenue South for several hours Wednesday morning.
