Ferg's to Host 3rd Annual Mousequerade

The fundraiser benefits The Kind Mouse, a nonprofit that helps feed St. Petersburg's hungry families.

Tampa Bay area residents in search of a good time Friday night are invited to put on their fishnet stockings and head down to Ferg’s Sports Bar for the third annual Mousequerade.

The Sept. 25 event benefits The Kind Mouse.

“We are a small but mighty nonprofit organization that feeds children on the weekend and assists families who are in dire need of food for their families due to sudden loss of employment,” explained volunteer and advisory board member Nance Natelle. “Unfortunately, it happens way too often right here in St. Pete.”

The Kind Mouse is an all-volunteer organization that plays host to events that deliver proceeds for purchasing food. It also stages local food drives.

Friday’s ball at Ferg’s runs from 7 to 11 p.m. and includes music, auction items and food. Tickets are available online and cost $55.

The Kind Mouse delivers 400 bags of food, each containing 13 items, to schools in the St. Petersburg area each week. The bags go to children who have been identified as needing food assistance, Natelle said.

“As you can imagine this is a huge undertaking and takes many hours. We are fortunate to have a core group of regular volunteers who are supplemented by other groups such as Girl Scouts, high school kids who need volunteer hours, Wells Fargo, Comegys Insurance Agency, Exchange Club of the Burg, and Franklin Templeton to mention a few. We also have a fun Mouse Nibbles program that enables kids to be actively involved. Of course we always need more volunteers.”

As for the “mousequerade” part of the event, organizers says guests are encouraged to put on their best mouse costumes or ears. Men are also encouraged to wear mouse tails while fishnet stocking are also “highly suggested” for the ladies.

Ferg’s is located at 1320 Central Ave. To get tickets for Friday’s event, visit The Kind Mouse’s online sales site. To learn more about the event, visit its Facebook page.
