Florida Ranks Worst in 'Everything,' Website Says

The website Thrillist, which ranks cities, food, drink and travel, says the Sunshine State contributes little to America.

Florida comes in dead last in β€œeverything,” according to the latest list released by Thrillist.

The website that ranks cities and states on such things as food, drinks and travel experiences, says the Sunshine State is pretty much the worst of the worst when it comes to contributing to America. Its rankings, it says, are based on such things as inventions, food and drink, β€œsomewhat productive famous people” and geographical beauty.

The roll out of the β€œgo big or go home” list that ranks states on β€œeverything” was released in time for what the website calls β€œAmerica Week.”

The list kicks off going from worst to best states with an apology right off the bat to Florida.

β€œWhen putting together a list such as this, there can be some temptation to defy popular expectations and go against the grain,” the writers explained. Even so, pointing to the popular β€œFlorida Man” twitter account, they added, β€œFlorida’s awfulness resume is so staggeringly impressive that it couldn’t go any other way. You were born for this.”

Michigan earned No. 1 honors in the rankings with the explanation that β€œfar too much of the Michigan narrative centers on Detroit and its many issues.” The writers go on to say Michigan’s β€œgreatest strengths lie in the state as a whole.”

The list writers’ conclusions aside, Florida has taken top honors in a number of other surveys as of late. While the state does indeed rank No. 1 for shark attacks, it’s also among the Top 25 best places for road trips, has some of the nerdiest towns and rarely fails to earn a mention for best beaches.
