Florida Tax-Free Holiday 2015 Ends Sunday
Tampa Bay area shoppers only have a few days left to take advantage of the savings.

Parents eager to stock up on back-to-school gear will want to put shopping on their weekend to-do lists.
Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday ends this Sunday, Aug. 16, at 11:59 p.m. State lawmakers extended this year’s holiday to 10 days instead of the traditional three. The temporary tax break kicked in on Aug. 7.
While the tax respite remains in place, shoppers will find their purchases of standard back-to-school gear, including clothing, notebooks, backpacks and other supplies, ring up at the register without tax included.

Here’s what the Florida Department of Revenue says is included in the savings:
- Clothing, footwear and some accessories that sell for $100 or less per item
- Basic school supplies that sell for less than $15 per item
- Personal computers and some related accessories up to the first $750 of the purchase price when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use
The department notes the sales tax break does not apply to:

- Clothing items that cost more than $100
- School supplies that cost more than $15
- Books that are not otherwise exempt
- Rentals or leases on any school-related items
- Sales of clothing, school supplies or computers at a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport
