Fossil Park Shooting Arrest Made: St. Pete Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Officers arrested and charged a man in Sunday night’s shooting at Fossil Park’s basketball courts, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

Marquiel Lamonte Anderson, 23, was charged with second-degree attempted murder and two counts of violation of probation.

Anderson shot and critically injured a 38-year-old man after a fight broke out between several players at the park’s basketball courts around 8:15 p.m., police said.

The victim pulled a gun from his bag to disperse the fight, the agency said. After he retreated, Anderson went to his car and returned with a gun and shot the victim.

The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition.
