Freeze Warning Issued For St. Pete, Bradenton, Nearby Cities

A hard freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday as temperatures are expected to drop as low as 27 degrees.

TAMPA BAY, FL — A hard freeze warning has been issued for St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sarasota and other nearby cities as overnight temperatures are forecast to drop as low as 27 degrees in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m. Sunday for Pinellas, Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties. The warning also affects the cities of Clearwater, Largo, Anna Maria Island, Venice, Englewood and Punta Gorda.

As temperatures drop, frost and freezing conditions will kill crops and other vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, the National Weather Service said.

Residents in the affected counties are encouraged to cover or bring tender plants indoors. Exposed outdoor water pipes should also be wrapped or covered to prevent bursting.
