GA Fugitive Wanted For Homicide Arrested In St. Pete: Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A Georgia fugitive wanted for two homicides in Savannah was found Sunday night in St. Petersburg, authorities said.

Derek Johnson, 46, was arrested just before 11 p.m., St. Petersburg police wrote in a Facebook post.

Early Friday morning, around 12:20 a.m., Savannah police officers responding to a call found a man shot to death in the roadway. A woman was also found dead just off the road.

When St. Petersburg detectives learned that Johnson was in the area, they were able to find him and arrest him without incident.
