Gandy Boulevard Lane Closings Continue

Environmental cleanup work is still going on after a Tuesday crash involving a fully loaded tanker truck.

The Florida Department of Transportation is warning motorists that closings and delays along Gandy Boulevard are likely to continue through Thursday.

The department’s contractor and hazmat crews are still taking care of an environmental cleanup following a Tuesday tanker truck crash that resulted in a fuel spill of more than 10,000 gallons.

While more than 40 truckloads of contaminated soil have already been removed, FDOT reports more loads are expected and clean fill dirt has to be trucked in to replace it.

The closings are expected to remain in place until sometime Thursday afternoon. Motorists should expect delays.
