Gun Charge Filed Against St. Pete Felon: U.S. DOJ

A St. Petersburg man faces a gun charge for possessing a gun as a convicted felon, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Petersburg man faces one count of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

John Knight, 45, faces up to 15 years in federal prison, if convicted.

He was found with a Beretta 9mm semiautomatic pistol and 16 rounds of ammunition, the DOH said.

Knight was previously convicted of two felonies, including attempted murder in the second degree and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the agency said. This prohibits him from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.
