Argument Led to Fatal Shooting

St. Pete Police discovered the man's body in an apartment after getting a 911 call about a shooting.

ST. PETERSBURG – A 32-year-old man found dead in a St. Petersburg apartment Thursday apparently was shot after an argument in the building's courtyard, police said.

Jasper Williams was found dead by police in the apartment where he lived, at 674 22nd Ave. South. Police arrived at the apartment after receiving a 911 call that a person had been shot.

Detectives so far have determined that Williams was shot by someone he had an argument with in the apartment complex courtyard. Shots were fired during that argument.

Williams returned to his apartment. One of the individuals he argued with then entered the unit and shot Williams. A suspect has not been identified.

Police had arrived at the building at about 2:30 p.m. and entered Apartment 18, where they found Williams. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
