Hit-And-Run Tesla Driver Sought In Gandy Bridge Crash: FHP

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A motorcyclist from Tampa was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on Gandy Bridge early Sunday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 20-year-old man, who was heading west on the bridge just before 3 a.m., was overtaken and hit by a speeding Tesla Model 3 traveling in the same direction, FHP said. The crash caused his motorcycle to overturn.

The Tesla’s driver drove away from the scene after the crash, the agency said.

Troopers found vehicle parts at the crash scene that were tied to the Tesla, which was located at a Largo apartment complex, the home of its female owner.

The car was seized as evidence and investigators are seeking the identity of the driver, FHP said.
