Hunt for Fugitive Focuses on St. Pete

The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Matthew Thomas Dion's arrest.

A 39-year-old man wanted in connection with a double homicide, arson and possession of child pornography is believed to be in the St. Petersburg area.

Anyone with information that leads to his arrest and capture could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.

That’s from the U.S. Marshals Service, which has been on the hunt for Matthew Thomas Dion for quite some time. The crimes Dion is accused of committing took place in New Hampshire, but Marshals say he was last seen in St. Petersburg in early September.

The St. Petersburg Police Department says it believes Dion may have come to the area in late March. He was last spotted on Sept. 6 in a stolen 2013 Hyundai Elantra that was silver in color. The car had the Florida tag number of G673WH.

It is unclear if Dion is still in the area, but anyone who has information about his whereabouts is asked to call Det. Amanda Newton at 727-893-7780.

Dion is described as being 5 feet, 10 inches in height with brown hair and brown eyes. He weighs about 170 pounds and has a scar on his forehead. He is considered armed and dangerous.
