Inmate Died In Manatee County Jail: Sheriff
A 26-year-old inmate had trouble breathing early Tuesday and died, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A 26-year-old inmate died early Tuesday after having trouble breathing, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Thomas Campbell of Bradenton started having difficulty breathing while in his cell at Manatee County Jail around 5:40 a.m.
While being brought to the jail’s medical unit, he became unresponsive and was placed on the floor, the sheriff’s office said. Jail staff provided lifesaving measures but were unable to revive him.

Detectives found no signs of trauma or foul play. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Campbell was jailed Nov. 29 and was awaiting bond on a contempt of court charge for trespassing.
