'Kids' Bump 'Kits' Into 1st Place Tie with Kats Victory

The battle for the championship pennant at North Shore Park has taken on an exciting state of affairs from the top to bottom of the Three-Quarter Century Club’s Intraclub standings.
In the first game played Thursday, March 10, 2022, the mathematically eliminated ‘Kids’ bounced the first place ‘Kits’ with a come-from-behind 15-14 win. Jon Wilson’s bases-loaded infield hit scored Larry Webster from third base with second of two runs to erase 13-14 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning for their fourth straight victory.
Second game action found two teams searching for offense. Throughout a game that saw the ‘Kats’ batters scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning to gain a 7-5 victory over the Kubs.

Struggling to score runs in its last two games, the ‘Kats’ seemed to be headed for a 5-4 loss before breaking loose with three runs in the seventh.
Pitcher Pete Calabrese (‘Kats’) and Yaz Gora (‘Kubs’) kept the game close with sterling pitching performances throughout the game. Calabrese was aided by striking out six ‘Kub’ batters, bringing his season total to 63, tops among the Club’s pitchers.
