‘Kids’ Defeat ‘Kats’ ’Kits’ Win Pennant With Victory Over ‘Kubs

As expected, a late-season nine game winning streak by Captain Will Michaels ‘Kids’ was the deciding factor in determining the Club champion for 21-22.

In the day’s first game, the ‘Kits’ bumped their one-game lead in standings to one and a half games, handling the struggling ‘Kubs,’ winners in only six of their last twenty-six games, effortlessly 21-9.

The task of winning over the red hot ‘Kids’ team in the day’s second game was critical to clinging to any hope. The two contenders would need to stand at a one game difference after the end of the contest with the ‘Kubs. A must-win for Captain Walt Ewald’s ‘Kits.’

The ‘Kits ‘jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, however fell behind 11-9 when the dust settled at the end of the fourth inning. Answering with three runs in the fifth, the Kits held the Kids scoreless going ahead 12-11.

Hard-hitting by the 'Kids' plated ten runs in their last two at-bats while holding the 'Kits' scoreless in the sixth and only scoring three times in their final at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. Final score ‘Kids’ 21, ‘Kits’ 15.

Jon Wilson’s 4/5 day at the plate, including a triple, led the hit parade for the ‘Kids’. “3rd base” Ed Asay was the top hitter and scorer for the ‘Kits’ with a 4/5 plate performance and three runs.

In the 'Kits' win over the Kubs Chuck Bochicchio led the Kubs with a 3/3 day Ivan Millette was 5/5 on the day with a double for the ‘Kits’
