Man Bit Off Victim’s Ear During Fight Near St. Pete Bar: Police
A St. Pete man bit off the tip of another man's ear during a fight near a Central Avenue bar, police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A St. Pete man bit off the tip of another man’s ear during a fight near a Central Avenue bar.
James Anthony May, 52, was charged with aggravated battery, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department arrest affidavit.
He and the victim got into an argument “that escalated” around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at 7220 Central Ave., the affidavit said. This is the address for The Wheelhouse restaurant and bar.

“While we did provide the camera footage to authorities, the incident that occurred was not at or associated with the business in any way,” Devin Cashman told Patch.
May attacked the victim, biting and partially detaching his ear from his head and biting off the tip.

This caused “permanent disfigurement” for the victim, who was treated at Bayfront Health St. Pete, police said.
May was booked into Pinellas County Jail and released Sunday afternoon on a $10,000 bond, jail records show.
