Man Bitten By Eel Rescued By Coast Guard

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A boater sent a mayday call over Channel 16 to the Coast Guard at Sector St. Petersburg about a man who had been bitten by a moray eel while fishing on Sunday night around 9 p.m. (Video provided by the Coast Guard at the bottom of this article)

The Coast Guard sent a rescue air crew from Air Station Clearwater in a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to the 23-year-old man's boat location west of Venice.

They took him to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition.
