Man Hit By Truck, Killed While Crossing Street: St. Pete Police

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man died after being hit by a truck while crossing a street early Monday morning, the St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

James Higgs, 68, was hit by the truck just before 1 a.m. in the 2400 block of 18th Avenue South, police said. He was crossing mid-block with no crosswalk.

He was brought to Bayfront Health, where he died from his injuries. His next of kin has been notified.

The truck’s driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
