Man Slapped Police Horse’s Butt, Faces Charge: St. Pete Police

An Odessa man who slapped a St. Pete police horse on Central Avenue told officers "that he didn't know he wasn't allowed to hit the horses."

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — An Odessa man was arrested and charged after slapping a police horse’s butt early Saturday morning on Central Avenue, according to St. Petersburg Police Department arrest records.

Alisha Lalani, 27, was charged with battery on a police horse, records show.

Just before 2 a.m., two officers were riding police horses — easily identified by the police department’s insignia and flashing red and blue lights on the animal — near 3rd Street, police said.

Lalani walked up behind one of the horses and slapped its butt, according to the arrest report.

He told the officers “that he didn’t know he wasn’t allowed to hit the horses,” the arrest report said.

Officers said that there were no indications that Lalani was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the slap.
