ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man who claimed his domestic partner took her own life earlier this year was arrested Tuesday for her murder, according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

Gregory Shin, 48, called police on Feb. 20 around 11:30 p.m. claiming he found the body of his partner, 59-year-old Katrin Simpson, hanging in their garage. He told officers that she committed suicide, police said.

During the investigation, detectives learned there was a history of domestic violence and found inconsistencies in Shinn’s claims.
