Canceled: MarineQuest Celebrates 25 Years Saturday
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute will host its annual open house Saturday.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, 100 8th Ave. S.E. in St. Petersburg, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its annual open house, MarineQuest, Saturday, Oct. 19.
During this award-winning event, the research headquarters are open to the public so visitors can learn about Florida's plants and animals.
Inside the labs, scientists can guide visitors through interactive displays and answer questions about their research. Outside, visitors can explore touch tanks filled with Florida marine life, such as sharks, starfish, rays, horseshoe crabs, spiny lobsters and sport fish.

MarineQuest offers something for all ages, including interactive activities specifically designed for younger kids, like gyotaku, an artistic fish-printing technique originally used by Japanese fisherman to record their catches. Visitors can also participate in a mock manatee rescue with the marine mammal rescue team.
