St. Petersburg and Pinellas County officials aren’t too old to walk to school.

Mayor Rick Kriseman, City Councilmen Karl Nurse, Pinellas County School Board Member René Flowers and officials from the city’s police and fire departments plan to prove it Wednesday. They’re intending to recognize International Walk to School Day by leading local students on their journeys to class.

Dubbed the “Walking School Bus,” the event begins around 7:40 a.m. at 15th Avenue South and 25th Street South. A walking school bus is a term used to describe a group of kids walking or riding to school in the company of one or more adults, the city explained in a media release.
